The world of wine goes much further than just the wine making process, as it is a culture within itself. The origins of the wine in this area date back to the Vacceos. At the archaeological site in Pintia, close to the Emina centre, remains have been found, which confirm the origin of the wine. Atio is the first reference we have of the world of wine in this area. As early as the thirteen century, the Cistercian monks, who lived in this monastery of Santa María de Valbuena, introduced the grape variety, ‘tempranillo’. In the site of Pintia, very close to Emina, in recent years, numerous remains have been discovered related to the growing of vines.
